We welcome your support of A Moment in the Word. The Lord has put in on our hearts to love people. Our desire is to spread the gospel 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 to the world through daily devotionals, weekly bible study, and community outreach. We'd be honored to partner with you in person or through your generous financial gift.
What are some signs of genuine saving faith?
Blessed - Matthew 5:10-12
An Enemy - Job 1:1-11
The Vine and the branches
Suffering and Future Glory
"You can influence your own little world around you quite a bit. By smiling, by being kind and helpful when you can. Use those abilities today to make this a happy day both for the people around you and yourself."
Psalm 30:5
For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Dear Father in heaven, we come before you as your children, longing to be assured through your Spirit that we are and may remain your children. We long to live to the glory of your name under the shelter and guidance of the Lord Jesus in expectation of the great day which shall fulfill all promises made to us. Strengthen us, especially in dark and troubled days. Help us when danger threatens and when evil tries to make headway among us. Deliver us from all evil, for yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way – with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge.
1 Corinthians 1:4–5
“A genuine revival without joy in the Lord is as impossible as spring without flowers, or day-dawn without light.”
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Psalm 95:1–2
May this day give to your life greater faith in God’s love for you, so throughout the day, you may find strength in Him.
I pray that this day may give you fresh hope in God’s plan for your life. May you trust Him more than ever before!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
God is bringing greater clarity in distinguishing the difference between faith and hope. Your prayers must be established in absolute faith, without any doubt whatsoever; according to His will. If you find that you are in a double-minded position, take the time and effort to suss out any place of fear or unbelief that would undermine your faith. Then, make the necessary corrections so that whatever you ask in My name will be done.
James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God has given us, and looking ahead at 2024, I believe it has never been more important for God’s people to be on our knees. But knowing how to pray is not always easy. Jesus’ disciples felt the same confusion. They were familiar with the oft-repeated prayers of the Torah. But Jesus prayed with a kind of authority and power they had never seen before — as though God was listening! So when they came to Jesus, as told in Matthew 6, they didn’t say, “Teach us another prayer.” They said, “Lord, teach us to pray.”
The Lord’s Prayer Matthew 6:9-13 is Christ’s response. It is a beautiful prayer and one that every Christian should hide in their heart . But as elegant as the words are, I do not believe Jesus intended it to become another ritualistic prayer. Rather, it was to be an example of how to pray.
Ever since creation, God has wanted His people to enjoy His blessing (Genesis 1:28). Sin brought the curse into the world, but God promised to bless the whole world through Abraham’s seed, a promise fully realized in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:3). When we pray this blessing for ourselves or others, we ask God to fulfil His purposes in blessing His people with His peace and presence.
Numbers 6:24–26
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Lord, thank you for your abundant, abounding grace. Thank you that we don't have to earn a drop of the mighty river of grace that flows freely for us today. Thank you for the unexpected, unmerited favor you've showered on my life. Help me put myself in the path of your love and grace. Help me not neglect the disciplines I need to meet with you regularly and to drink from the water of life. Thank you for your rich love. Amen.
Revelation 22:1
Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb
Father, I come into your presence so aware of my human frailty and yet overwhelmed by your love for me. I thank you that there is no human experience that I might walk through where your love cannot reach me. If I climb the highest mountain you are there and yet if I find myself in the darkest valley of my life, you are there.
Teach me today to love you more. Help me to rest in that love that asks nothing more than the simple trusting heart of a child.
Psalms 36:7
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings
